50th Anniversary of The Annual Tractor Pulling Championships in Bowling Green

Bowling Green offers plenty of activities during the summer, but one of the most exciting events to kick off the end of the summer season is the National Tractor Pulling Championships!  Come one, come all to experience one of the biggest events Bowling has to offer. This year is noteworthy because it is the 50th anniversary of the annual National Tractor Pulling Championships!

The Northwestern Ohio Tractor Pullers Association (NWOTPA) became the Wood County Tractor Pullers in 1962 with 20 members in Bowling Green, Ohio. In 1964 the club started to grow in membership because people from different counties wanted to join, and the club then changed the name to the Northwestern Ohio Tractor Pullers Association. The first year that Bowling Green held the National Tractor Pulling Championships was in 1967.

This year the Tractor Pulls will be starting on Thursday, August 18th through Sunday August 21st located at the Wood Country Fairgrounds. Tickets can be purchased on Thursday for evenings, all day, weekend passes, and camping packages. This year is particularly special, because it is the 50th anniversary of the National Tractor Pulling Championships. This event provides fun for every age group. The Tractor Pulls offer camping, concerts, different divisions of pulls, food, and more! There are many events taking place aside from the pulls, especially to commemorate the 50th Anniversary! There will be a cooler contest, concerts on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings: featuring the bands Mustang Sally, Southern Rock Superstars, and Unpaved. There will also be an expansion of the retired tractor museum, and an extra day has been added for the National Kiddie Tractor Pulls. There will also be prize drawings, money prizes, and giveaways. There will be merchandise for sale and some items that people can win specifically commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Tractor Pulls. Since this year is expected to be a very big year the campgrounds have been expanded. There will also be church services held on Sunday morning.

This year’s National Tractor Pulling Championship should be a very memorable year full of fun for everyone! I hope everyone is excited and ready for August to be here so we can get the festivities started! If you are looking for more information about this event you can find it at info@pulltown.com. Everyone of all ages are more than welcome to come have fun and celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the National Tractor Pulling Championships.
