Giving Tuesday

            November 27, 2018 marks the 7th Annual Giving Tuesday! Giving Tuesday is celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable season and brings people together around the values of service and giving back. Since its inception, Giving Tuesday continues to grow by harnessing the power of social media and the generosity of people around the world to help bring about change.
            Do you want to take part in Giving Tuesday? It’s as simple as visiting your favorite shop or looking at a nonprofits social media page! There are quite a few Bowling Green locations that are participating in this year’s Giving Tuesday.

Below is a list of local businesses that are giving back to the community:
·      BeYoutiful Nutrition
o   Bring in a Toy, non-perishable food item, or household item until December 20, 2018 and you will receive a $1 off of your order.
·      Finders Records
o   10% of sales will be donated to the Red Cross
·      For Keeps Gifts
o   Buy a Giving Scarf for $10 and all proceeds will benefit The Cocoon Shelter (they may sell out, but there will be other ways to donate).
·      Waddington Jewelers
o   Qualifying Wood County first responders can stop in to be sized and receive a free silicone band.

Here are some other organizations that have set up special donation opportunities:
·      Bowling Green State University

·      Wood County Hospital
o   Donations of $40 or more made to the Wood County Hospital will receive a limited edition #GiveWCH tshirt.
·      Wood County Humane Society
o   Their Facebook page will be spotlighting their animals that have unique medical needs and explaining why their organization is important for these animals.

There are many other great organizations in the Bowling Green area that you can donate to on Giving Tuesday. Below is a list and brief description of each:
·      BGSU Hillel
o   Their mission is to enrich the lives of Jewish undergraduate and graduate students so that they can enrich the world.
·      BGSU Student Philanthropy Committee
o   A BGSU student organization that promotes the culture of giving back.
·      Black Swamp Ice Frogs
o   A hockey organization for people of all ages with special needs.
·      Bowling Green Pregnancy Center/HerChoice
o   A center empowering women to make informed decisions and offers free services to those who are facing a pregnancy decision.
·      Bowling Green Youth Hockey Association
o   Provides a fun and educating experience within the sport of hockey. Dedicated to providing players and families with inexpensive options to play hockey.
·      Bridging the Gap Africa
o   An organization that helps build footbridges in Africa.
·      Brown Bag Food Project
o   A non-profit that provides a supply of food to help meet their immediate needs and acts as a resource guide to connect people to additional community resources for long term support.
·      Champions in Action
o   A nonprofit organization that targets the youth most susceptible to gang participation, violence, delinquency and drug and alcohol abuse.
·      Habitat for Humanity Wood County
o   Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
·      Montessori School of BG
o   A nurturing community that educates the child in a Montessori environment, where children develop mutual respect, personal responsibility, and a passion for learning.
·      National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Wood County
o   Provides Wood County residents affected by a mental illness with education, support and advocacy.
·      The Cocoon
o   Provides safety, healing, and justice for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, their children, and all of those affected by abuse. 
·      Wood Lane Residential Services
o   Provider of services to individuals with intellectual and development disabilities in Wood County.
