  • Bowling Green State University started as a teaching institution with the name Bowling Green State Normal School.
  • Bowling Green State University has more than 200 undergraduate majors
  • The falcon, the university's mascot, was chosen because it is a powerful bird despite it's small size. There is a live Falcon Cam which shows a family of falcons nesting in the clock tower.
  • Carillon Park was the site of the first football stadium where the now, pro-football team the Cleveland Browns used to practice. The clock tower that is there now is placed on the previous 50-yard line.
  • If you and your sweetheart both went to the university and get married, you coin the name "Falcon Flames"
  • The University's seal has many wives tales. It is said if you stand on the seal at midnight and kiss your sweetheart, you will soon be married, but if you and your sweetheart separate hands and walk in opposite directions around the seal, you will soon break up. If you pass the right of the seal, you will do well on your next test, and if you pass the left of the seal, you will fail your next test.
